Rules:
- I can't simply bake/cook something I've cooked before just using a "new recipe." For example I have made Beef Wellington before following two Gordon Ramsay recipes - I can't just find a new one and then make it - it has to be a new item.
- On the new "item" they can be similar items but things I haven't made before. For example I have made pumpkin pie and apple pie - this doesn't stop me from making Key Lime Pie (one of the things I'm wanting to make right now).
- The different food challenges are not mutually exclusive. That means I can make something that I've never made before with a new technique and it would able to be on both lists.
- I can make things I have attempted to make before but have failed at (french macarons are my nemesis and are on that list) (added 5Jan16)
I think that's the rules for now but I will feel free to add or modify as I go.

Are you open to people giving you challenge suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI am desparate for suggestions! I may not do all of them (like haggis - I am not cooking or eating haggis and I've already been told nothing cooked in animal bladder).
DeleteHere are some challenges for you -- croquembouche, baked Alaska, eggs (always seem to be a challenge on master chef to have perfect soft boiled egg, hard boiled, poached), eggs benedict, salt crusted fish, lava cake. You should do a mystery box challenge one day...post on facebook and have people give you ingredients and see what you can come up with!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Ideas! Croquembouche should be added! I have made Baked Alaska before for the husband. I have also done Eggs Benedict almost entirely from scratch (although that was the plan for when I make the english muffins). Salt crusted fish and lava cakes sound interesting and yummy!
DeleteI TOTALLY love the idea of mystery box challenges! I would have to have suggestions put up - then rope in a volunteer to pick a selection of them and then tape and time me - sounds like lots of fun!
You should also work with sugar and make candy!! Finicky stuff!! Oh god, I am totally into you doing this 366 challenge. All I can think of right now! Plus it's lunch and I am hungry.
DeleteTanis Thank you so much for the encouragement! Come up with Sugar and Candy ideas and I'll gladly add them to the list! Also feel free to share so I can get more ideas!
DeleteWhat would you make for your audition?
ReplyDeleteAdd panna cotta to your list!
ReplyDeletePanna Cotta is actually on the things to try this week - I don't always keep this list updated in terms of Ideas - put I also have plans on making Ricotta and Panner at home ;)
